RIVET NUT PROCEDURE

Rivet nuts are used on the roof to mount the roof rack. Rivet nuts are used for parts installations, when access to the back mounting area is limited or boxed in. It is important to achieve a full seat on the first attempt due to the lack of accessibility on the back side of the rivet nut. Poor seating of the rivet nut will result in part failure, loose parts and possible water leaks.

The use of a commercially available threaded insert tool will be necessary. There are several styles and types readily available. Examples of multi fit choices are the Matco(R) 203F and the Snap On(R) HP650M, or you may select one with equivalent capabilities. If a multi fit option is not chosen, it must be capable of a thread size of M6x1.00. Follow the tool manufacturer recommended directions for proper installation.
