Starter Motor: Service and Repair

NOTE: On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove intake manifold bracket.
3. Disconnect starter electrical connections.
4. Remove starter mounting bolts.
5. Remove starter motor.
6. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque starter mounting bolts to 27-38 ft. lbs.
b. Torque intake manifold bolts to 27-38 ft. lbs.
7. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
