EGR Valve Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
1. Remove the air intake hose.
2. Disconnect the EGR valve position sensor connector.
3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR control valve and install a vacuum pump to the valve.
4. Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 using an ohmmeter.

SPECIFICATION: 2.7 K ohms.

5. If not as specified, replace the EGR control valve.
6. Connect the EGR valve position sensor connector.
7. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
8. Measure the voltage at the ECM terminal C249 / 18 (see image)+.
9. If not as specified, inspect the harness and connector between the EGR position sensor and the ECM terminal.
10. If the harness and connector are OK, replace the EGR control valve.
