DESCRIPTION
When trouble occurs in the main input devices or output devices, check for the cause using the data link connector (DLC) and the malfunction indicator lamp located in the instrument cluster. Failures of each input and output device are indicated and retrieved from the engine control module (ECM) as diagnostic trouble codes. Testing and Inspection

NOTE: The ECM constantly checks for malfunction of the input devices. The ECM checks for malfunction of output devices only in a three second period after the ignition switch is turned ON and the ENG. TEST terminal of the data link connector (DLC) is grounded.
