Alternator: Service and Repair

NOTE: On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Disconnect alternator electrical connectors and B terminal wire.
3. Loosen alternator pivot bolt and remove drive belt.
4. Remove alternator mounting bolts, then the alternator.
5. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque alternator pivot bolt to 14-19 ft. lbs.
b. Torque alternator mounting bolt to 27-38 ft. lbs.
6. On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
