EGR Valve: Testing and Inspection

Inspection of EGR Control Valve

1. Ensure ignition switch is OFF.





2. Disconnect the EGR Control Valve Connector.





3. Measure the resistance between the following terminal combinations of the EGR Control Valve:
- 1 to 2
- 2 to 3
- 4 to 5
- 5 to 6

Specification: Approximately: 22 ohms at 68° F (20° C)

4. If not as specified, replace the EGR Control Valve.





Inspection of EGR Control Valve Wiring (Harness Side)

1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Check for battery voltage at terminals, 2 and 5.
3. If voltage is not present, check for an open in the circuit from the engine fuse.
4. Disconnect the EGR Control Valve Connector and check for continuity between the EGR Control Valve (C158) and the PCM (C248).
