Brakes and Traction Control: Description and Operation

Braking System
This model is equipped with a vacuum assisted, hydraulic, antilock brake system (ABS). When the brake pedal is depressed, a piston is moved in the master cylinder. This piston forces hydraulic fluid into the brake system lines, applying pressure to the wheel cylinders. As the wheel cylinders extend, they clamp the disc brakes against a brake rotor and extend brake shoes against a brake drum.
