Engine - Flickering Oil Pressure Lamp

SOURCE: Kia PitStop

TITLE: Flickering Oil Pressure Warning Lamp

APPLIES TO: Optima 2.4L

SERVICE TIP:

If you encounter a 2.4L Optima with an oil pressure warning lamp that illuminates at idle or during slow speed turns, be sure to check engine oil pressure at cold start, as well as, when the engine is fully warmed up. Typically you should see approximately 65 psi cold and 10-12 psi at operating temperature. If these values are not met, inspect vehicle for the presence of an aftermarket oil filter. Results from the field have shown that the use of some aftermarket oil filters can result in lower than normal pressures and warning lamp illumination. If present replace the suspect filter with a genuine Kia oil filter and retest.
