Fuel System - Evaporative Vent Filter

SOURCE: KIA Technician Times Volume 6 Issue 2, 2003

TITLE: Evaportive Vent Filter

APPLIES TO: 2003 Optima

SERVICE TIP:

To reduce the possibility of plugged evaporative vent filters, the filter has been relocated on 2003MY Optima models. The new filter (P/N 31453 3F000) is mounted to the fuel filler neck in the left rear wheel well where it is better protected from road dirt, mud, water and dust. The evaporative canister close valve is still mounted in the evaporative canister housing with a hose connecting it to the filter in the wheel well. Refer to Section 31-311 of the current edition (March '03) Parts Catalog for new part information.
