A/T - Diagnosis

SOURCE: KIA Technician Times Volume 6 Issue 2, 2003

TITLE: A/T Diagnosis

APPLIES TO: Optima / Sedona

SERVICE TIP:

Testing line pressure is often useful when diagnosing an ATM problem. The line pressure test procedure for Optima and Sedona models differs from that used for other Kia models. Instead of reading line pressure at the engine stall speed, the line pressure is measured in L and R ranges, at 2,500 rpm, with the vehicle lifted to allow the front wheels to turn freely. For Optima, connect the fluid pressure gauge to the LR (low/reverse clutch) test port, using SST No. 0K3MS140001 (adapter w/ 8mm banjo bolt). For Sedona, connect the fluid pressure gauge to the RED (reduction clutch) test port, using SST No. 0K3MS140001, along with SST No. KMA020628- 1M (10mm banjo bolt). See service manuals for test port locations.
