Exhaust Pipe: Service and Repair

Removal

Caution: A hot exhaust system can produce a serious burn.

1. Remove three nuts that attach front exhaust pipe to warm-up TWC converter.





2. Remove two nuts at spring-loaded flange of front exhaust pipe.
3. Remove two nuts from bracket at bottom of front exhaust pipe.
4. Remove front exhaust pipe.
5. Remove one gasket.

Installation
1. Clean mating surfaces as required.
2. Install new gasket.
3. Position front exhaust pipe for installation.
4. Install two nuts to attach bottom end of front exhaust pipe to bracket.
Tightening torque: 15.2 - 20.3 ft. lbs. (20.6 - 27.5 Nm, 2.1 - 2.8 kg-m)
5. Install two nuts at spring-loaded flange of front exhaust pipe.
Tightening torque: 27.4 - 38.3 ft. lbs. (37.2 - 51.9 Nm, 3.8 - 5.3 kg-m)
6. Install three nuts that attach front exhaust pipe to warm-up TWC converter.
Tightening torque: 27.4 - 38.3 ft. lbs. (37.2 - 51.9 Nm, 3.8 - 5.3 kg-m)
