B2543

DTC B2543 RIGHT HEADLAMP HIGH CIRCUIT SHORT TO GROUND ERROR

Component Location:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
FAM is a part of BCM with DDM, ADM, IPM, RAM, IMS and Cluster module. Each part of BCM is connected to one another through CAN communication line for efficient communication. Those modules control front/rear, driver/passenger seat, cluster with electrical signal and they share information with other modules. FAM (Front Area Module)set up at engine room controls various lamps (fog lamp, head lamp, stop lamp, turn signal lamp), wiper and performs system error checking as well. Received wind shield defogger switch signal from IPM through CAN line, FAM controls wind shield defogger.

DTC DESCRIPTION
The ECM sets DTC B2537 if short to ground in Right turn signal lamp circuit is detected.

DTC Detecting Condition:

MONITOR DTC STATUS
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF" & FAM : "ON".

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter.

4. Is the DTC B2543 present?

YES - Go to "Inspection & Repair".

NO - Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION
1. Electrical systems consist of a lot of harness and connectors, poor connection of terminals can cause various problems and damage of component.
2. Check poor connection, beding, corrosion, contamination, deformation of connector and it terminals.
3. Is any problem found?

YES - Repair if necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

NO - Go to W/Harness Inspection.

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION
1. Check short in power circuit
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".
2. Disconnect head lamp.

3. Measure the resistance between head lamp high power circuit of FAM (BCM-FE-53) and chassis ground.

Specification : Infinity Ohms

4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?

YES - Go to "Component Inspection".

NO - Repair short to ground in power circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

COMPONENT INSPECTION
1. Check head lamp
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".
2. Disconnect head lamp light bulb.

3. Measure the resistance between both terminals of head lamp high light bulb.

Specification:
approx. 0.04 Ohms (If light bulb fails, Infinity Ohms is measured.)

4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?

YES - Go to "Check FAM".

NO - Replacing the light bulb with 'light bulb for test', if normal operating condition is confirmed, Replace 'light bulb for test' with 'new light bulb' and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

2. Check FAM
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector(DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF".
3. Check if DTC is erased after replacing FAM with "FAM for test".
4. Is the DTC erased?

YES - Replace "FAM for test" with "new FAM" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

NO - Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace if necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Connect scantool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and then clear DTC.
2. Operate the vehicle and monitor the DTC on the scantool.
3. Are any DTCs present?

YES - Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure.

NO - System is performing to specification at this time.
