B2583

DTC B2583 LEFT TAIL LICENSE SIDE MARKER LAMP CIRCUIT SWRT TO GROUND ERROR

Component Location:

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
RAM is a component of BCM that consists of DDM, ADM, IPM, FAM, IMS and cluster module. Each part of BCM is connected to one another through CAN communication line for efficient communication. Those modules control front/rear, driver/passenger seat, cluster with electrical signal and they share information with other modules. RAM (Rear Area Module) set up at rear-left of passenger room controls various rear lamps (tail lamp, rear turn signal lamp, backup lamp, stop lamp, cabin lamp), window (s1iding door power window, quarter glass, rear defogger), rear wiper and oil cap door. Received multi function switch tail license side marker lamp signal from IPM through CAN line, RAM controls tail license side marker lamp. IPS is a semiconductor element which performs roles of fuse and relay. In addition to those roles, it performs sensing circuit error, circuit protection.

DTC DESCRIPTION
B2583 is set when short to ground in left clearance lamp/tail license side marker lamp circuit is detected.

DTC Detecting Condition:

MONITOR DTC STATUS
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF" & RAM : "ON"

3. Select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and monitor "DTC Status" parameter
4. Is the DTC B2583 present?

YES - Go to to "Inspection & Repair".

NO - Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or ECM's connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

TERMINAL AND CONNECTOR INSPECTION
1. Electrical systems consist of a lot of harness and connectors, poor connection of terminals can cause various problems and damage of component.
2. Check poor connection, beding, corrosion, contamination, deformation of connector and it terminals.
3. Is any problem found?

YES - Repair if necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

NO - Go to W/Harness Inspection.

POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION
1. Check short in power circuit
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"

2. Measure the resistance between tail license side marker lamp power circuit connector terminal at RAM side (BCM-RF2-37) and chassis ground.
3. Measure the resistance between tail license side marker lamp power circuit connector terminal at RAM side (BCM-RR2-16) and chassis ground.

Specification : Infinity Ohms

4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?

YES - Go to "Component Inspection".

NO - Repair short to ground in power circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

COMPONENT INSPECTION
1. Check clearance lamp/tail license side marker lamp
1. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
2. Disconnect clearance lamp/tail license side marker lamp

3. Measure the resistance between both terminals of clearance lamp/tail license side marker lamp light bulb

Specification :
approx. 0.04 Ohms (If light bulb fails, Infinity Ohms is measured.)

4. Is the measured resistance within the specification?

YES - Go to "Check RAM".

NO - Replacing the light bulb with 'light bulb for test', if normal operating condition is confirmed, Replace 'light bulb for test' with 'new light bulb' and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

2. Check RAM
1. Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
2. Ignition "ON" & engine "OFF"
3. Check if DTC is erased after replacing RAM with "RAM for test".
4. Is the DTC erased?

YES - Replace "RAM for test" with "new RAM" and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

NO - Check connecting condition of connector and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
1. Connect scantool and select "Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)" mode and then clear DTC.
2. Operate the vehicle and monitor the DTC on the scantool.
3. Are any DTCs present?

YES - Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure.

NO - System is performing to specification at this time.
