Front Brake Calipers

Exploded View Of Front Brake Caliper:






REMOVAL

1. Remove front road wheels.





2. Expose flexible brake hose by moving coiled protective covering.
3. Using a hose clamp, clamp hose to prevent loss of brake fluid.
4. Disconnect rigid brake pipe from flexible hose, seal exposed ends to prevent ingress of dirt.
5. Remove split (cotter) pin, retaining pins and springs.
6. Remove pads. If reinstalling pads, identify them for assembly to original locations.
7. Remove caliper mounting bolts and remove caliper from swivel housing.

INSTALLATION
1. Install caliper and mounting bolts to steering knuckle.
2. Tighten bolts evenly to 82 Nm (60 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect brake flexible hoses to caliper rigid line.
4. Tighten line union to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
5. Insert pads, pins and springs, secure using new split (cotter) pin.
6. Bleed brake system.
7. Press brake pedal firmly several times to locate friction pads.
8. Install road wheels, then tighten lug nuts to 130 Nm (96 ft. lbs.).
9. Road test vehicle.

NOTE: New brake pads require "bedding-in", this may take several hundred miles before brakes are at maximum efficiency.
