Brake Proportioning/Combination Valve: Service and Repair

Pressure Reducing Valve

Removal
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Clean Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) external parts.
3. Place a container under PRV valve to catch escaping brake fluid.
4. Disconnect primary circuit pipe unions from PRV.
5. Disconnect secondary circuit pipe unions from PRV.
6. Cover pipes (A and B shown) to prevent ingress of dirt.
7. Remove single retaining nut and bolt securing PRV to engine bulkhead.
8. Remove valve.

Installation
1. Install valve to engine bulkhead. Tighten bolt to 15 Nm. (11 ft. lbs.).
2. Connect primary and secondary circuit pipes to PRV. Tighten unions (A and B shown) to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
3. Fill brake reservoir with recommended brake fluid.
4. Bleed the brake system.
5. Reconnect battery and road test vehicle.
