Plenum - Sealing Change

Bulletin: P92-022

Section: Product

Date: 12/04/92

Model: Range Rover

Applicable to: USA/Canada

SUBJECT:
Plenum Sealing Change

Recently the Factory began using Loctite 577 instead of Hylomar to seal the plenum to the ram housing to improve sealing. Since Loctite 577 is hard setting, use the following procedure for plenum removal if required. Note that Loctite 577 is white in color.

WORK PROCEDURE

1. Run the engine until it reaches operating temperature.

2. Remove the six (6) plenum chamber retaining bolts.

3. CAREFULLY lever the plenum chamber upwards to break the adhesive bond. If stubborn, strike the non-intake side (right side) of the plenum with a RUBBER mallet in a sideways direction. Do not use a screwdriver or chisel to separate the plenum from the ram housing!

4. Clean both mating surfaces.

5. Re-assemble using Loctite 577 or Hylomar. Refer to the Workshop Manual, Sec. 19 for details.

CAUTION:
Never release cooling system pressure on a hot engine. Wait until the engine has cooled before removing the throttle housing heater hoses.
