Ignition Relay: Description and Operation

IGNITION RELAY

The GEMS Engine Management System uses four relays, all located within the Engine Compartment Fusebox:

- Ignition Relay
- Starter Motor Relay
- ECM Power Supply Relay (Main Relay)
- Fuel Pump Relay

The Ignition Relay is ignition key controlled and supplies a feed to the coils, evaporative emission canister purge valve and heated oxygen sensors. When the ignition key is turned off, supply to the coils is cut immediately.
