Difficult Door Operation
AFFECTED VEHICLE RANGE:

SITUATION:
DOOR OPERATION OR LOCKING DIFFICULTIES
A customer may report a concern of intermittent problems in unlocking or difficulty in opening one of the side doors. There are a number of potential causes that may lead to the above complaint. This bulletin has been issued to assist in the correct diagnosis of this issue.
RESOLUTION:
FOLLOW TROUBLESHOOTING PATHS TO RESOLVE
Should a customer express concern regarding the latching or locking difficulties, refer to the Repair Procedure troubleshooting steps detailed in this bulletin to identify the root cause of the fault, before replacing the latch assembly.
Inspect for any obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
INSPECT FOR LATCH PROBLEM CAUSE AND REPAIR AS REQUIRED
NOTE:
Repeated locking and unlocking of the doors will cause the system to temporarily shut down.
1. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage as follows:
^ If an obvious cause for a reported or observed concern is found, correct the cause before proceeding through this bulletin.
^ Check door profiles for alignment and striker position to latch.
^ Check the handle operation, linkage rods and cables for integrity and operation.
^ Check related fuses/relays and all electrical connectors by disconnecting and reconnecting them on the window switch pack and door latch etc.

4. If a door is slow to lock or unlock, perform the following:
5. If a door is difficult to open, perform the following:
6. Perform remote handset function test as follows:
^ Attempt to lower the tailgate glass using the remote handset and determine if the tailgate glass drops using the handset.
a) If the answer is YES, go to step 7.
b) If the answer is NO, press the remote five times.
^ If the first remote did not lower the tailgate glass attempt to lower the glass with the spare remote handset if available.
^ Determine if all doors and the tailgate open with the spare remote handset.
a) If the answer is YES, check first remote handset and retest.
b) If the answer is NO, go to step 7.
7. If you are directed to this step because all the doors and the tailgate glass fail to open, check locking functions with a key and determine if the key operates the locks.
^ If the answer is YES, there is a remote handset / signal fault.
a) Use T4 and follow the on-screen prompts.
b) Select "Diagnostic System / Security / Real Time Display / Remote Locking".
^ If the answer is NO, remove the door casing and check the linkage rod connection from the lock barrel to the latch.el to the latch.
