EGR Control Solenoid: Testing and Inspection

Vacuum Switching Valve:

- Disconnect VSV electrical connector.
- Disconnect vacuum hoses.
- Remove bolt, and remove VSV from intake manifold.

VSV Inspection - Checking Resistance:

- Connect ohmmeter across VSV terminals.

Resistance 33 - 39 ohms

VSV Inspection - Checking For Short:

- Check that there is no continuity between either terminal and VSV case.

VSV Inspection - Checking Operation:

- Blow air into port E. Air should flow from port G with high resistance.

VSV Inspection - Checking Operation:

- Apply battery voltage across solenoid terminals.
- Blow air into port E. Air should flow from port G easily.
- If any step failed to produce desired results, replace VSV.
