EGR System Testing

Modulator Filter Cleaning:





Preparation
- Remove vacuum modulator.
- Remove modulator cap and filter.
- Clean modulator filter with compressed air.


Connecting Tachometer:





VSV Operation
- Engine temperature should be below 113°F (45°C).
- Connect tachometer to IG terminal of the data link connector.

Installing Jumper Wire:





- Install jumper wire between terminals TE1 and E1 of the data link connector.
- Start engine and run at 3,500 rpm in Neutral.
- Remove jumper wire while observing tachometer.

Desired - No rpm increase

- Warm engine to above 122°F (50°C) and repeat test.

Desired - Engine speed increases 100 to 300 rpm.
