Main Converters

Removal

1. Check that the Converter is cool.
2. Remove the 4 bolts holding the pipe support bracket to the transmission.
3. Remove the 4 bolts and nuts holding the front exhaust pipe to TWC, and remove the pipe support bracket.
4. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the Three Way Catalytic Converter, and remove the 2 gaskets.
5. Remove the 3 nuts, Three Way Catalytic Converter and gasket from each side.

Installation

1. Using a 14 mm deep socket wrench, install a new gasket and the Three Way Catalytic Converter with 3 new nuts to each side.

Torque: 62 Nm (46 ft lb)

2. Temporarily install the pipe support bracket to the transmission with the 4 bolts.
3. Install a new gasket to each front end of the front exhaust pipe.
4. Connect the front exhaust pipe to the 2 Three Way Catalytic Converter with the 4 bolts and new nuts.

Torque: 43 Nm (32 ft lb)

5. Tighten the 4 bolts holding the pipe support bracket to the transmission.

Torque: 43 Nm (32 ft lb)
