Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair




PROCEDURE

Removal

1. Disconnect cable from negative terminal of battery.

CAUTION: Turn the ignition switch to "LOCK". Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the battery. Wait 90 seconds before proceeding with work.

2. Remove Intake Air Connector Pipe.
- Disconnect the following hoses:





- Power steering air hose from the No. 4 timing belt cover (1).
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation hose from No. 2 cylinder head cover (2).
- Loosen the 2 hose clamps and remove the Intake Air Connector Pipe together with the hoses.





3. Remove Volume Air Flow Meter from air cleaner.
- Disconnect the Volume Air Flow Meter connector.
- Disconnect the wire clamp from the bracket.





- Remove the 4 nuts, bolt, Volume Air Flow Meter and gasket.





4. Inspect the Volume Air Flow Meter.
- Check that the honey-combed is neither deformed nor damaged. If necessary, replace the Volume Air Flow Meter.

Installation





1. Using a new gasket install Volume Air Flow Meter with the 4 nuts and bolt.

Torque: 10 Nm (7 ft lb)





- Connect the wire clamp to the bracket.
- Connect the Volume Air Flow Meter connector.

2. Install Intake Air Connector Pipe with the 2 hose clamps.
- Connect the following hoses:





- Power steering air hose to the No. 4 timing belt cover (1).
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation hose to No. 2 cylinder head cover (2).
3. Connect cable from negative terminal of battery.
