Control Relay

1. Inspect continuity of motor relay circuit as follows:
a. Ensure there is continuity between terminals 9 and 10.
b. Ensure there is no continuity between terminals 7 and 8.
c. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
2. Inspect operation of motor relay circuit as follows:
a. Connect positive lead from battery to terminal 10 and negative lead to terminal 9.
b. Ensure there is continuity between terminals 7 and 8.
c. If operation is not as specified, replace relay.
3. Inspect continuity of solenoid relay circuit as follows:
a. Ensure there is continuity between terminals 1 and 9.
b. Ensure there is no continuity between terminals 2 and 5.
c. On Land Cruiser models, connect positive lead from ohmmeter to terminal 5 and connect negative lead to terminal 4. Ensure there is continuity between terminals.
d. On all models, connect two leads in reverse, and ensure there is no continuity between terminals.
e. If continuity is not as specified, replace relay.
4. Inspect operation of solenoid relay circuit as follows:
a. Connect positive lead from battery to terminal 1 and negative lead to terminal 9.
b. Ensure there is continuity between terminals 2 and 5.
c. On Camry and Land Cruiser models, ensure there is no continuity between terminals 2 and 6.
d. On all models, if operation is not as specified, replace relay.
