EGR Valve: Service and Repair


EGR VALVE REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

REMOVAL

1. Remove EGR vacuum modulator.
- Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the vacuum modulator.
- Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the EGR valve.





- Remove the bolt, the vacuum modulator and bracket assembly.





2. Remove EGR valve.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the EGR valve.
- Disconnect the engine clamp from the bracket.
- Loosen the EGR pipe union nut.
- Remove the 2 nuts holding the EGR valve to the air intake chamber.
- Remove the 2 stud bolts, EGR valve and gasket.

INSTALLATION

1. Reinstall EGR valve.
- Using 2 nuts, install the 2 stud bolts together with a new gasket and the EGR valve.

Torque: 9 N.m (90 kgf.cm. 78 in.lbf)

- Install the 2 nuts holding the EGR valve to the air intake chamber.

Torque: 18 N.m (180 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

- Tighten the union nut of the EGR pipe.

Torque: 64 N.m (650 kgf.cm. 47 ft.lbf)

- Connect the engine clamp to the bracket.
- Connect the vacuum hose to the EGR valve.
2. Reinstall EGR vacuum modulator.
- Install the vacuum modulator and bracket assembly with the bolt.

Torque: 18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

- Connect the 2 vacuum hoses to the EGR valve.
- Connect the 2 vacuum hoses to the vacuum modulator.
