Wiper Relay: Testing and Inspection

1. Inspect rear wiper relay operation as follows:
a. Ensure no continuity exists between terminals 1 and 3.
b. Continuity should exist between terminals 2 and 3.
c. If continuity is not as indicated, replace relay.
d. Connect positive battery lead to terminal 1 and negative to terminal 6.
e. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal 2 and negative to terminal 6, ensure meter indicates zero volts.
f. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal 3 and negative to terminal 6, ensure meter indicates battery voltage volts.
g. Connect positive battery lead to terminal 2 and negative to terminal 4.
h. Connect voltmeter positive lead to terminal 3 and negative to terminal 4.
i. Disconnect positive lead from terminal 2, then connect to terminal 1, ensure meter needle rises from zero volts to battery voltage within 6-10 seconds.
j. If operation is not as indicated, replace relay.
