Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

EVAPORATOR REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM

INSTALLATION HINT: Evacuate air from refrigeration system.

Charge system with refrigerant and inspect for leakage of refrigerant.
Specified amount:
700 ± 50 g (29.69 ± 1.70 oz.)

2. REMOVE BLOWER UNIT
3. REMOVE EVAPORATOR





a. Disconnect the liquid and suction tubes.
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm, 7 ft.lbf)

REMOVAL NOTE: Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.

b. Disconnect the equalizer tube from EPR.
Torque: 10 N.m (100 kgf.cm. 7 ft.lbf)

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate a new O-ring with compressor oil and install the tubes.





c. Using a hexagon wrench, remove the 3 bolts and separate the evaporator and tubes.
Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm. 48 in.lbf)

INSTALLATION HINT: Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the tubes.

d. Remove the 7 screws and evaporator cover.
e. Pull out the evaporator.

REMOVAL NOTE: Be careful not to damage the lower insulator of lower unit case when removing the evaporator.

INSTALLATION HINT: If evaporator was replaced. add compressor oil to compressor.

Add 40 cc (1.4 fl.oz.)
Compressor oil:
ND-OIL 8 or equivalent

EVAPORATOR INSTALLATION
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
