TITLE:
Nakamichi System Alternator Noise

MODELS:
'99 RX 300

INTRODUCTION

Some early production RX 300s with the Nakamichi option may experience alternator and ignition noise through the audio system. Alternator noise can be described as a whine noise related to engine speed and ignition noise as a "pop" or static noise also related to engine speed.

AFFECTED VEHICLES

- 1999 model year RX 300 2WD produced before VIN JT6GF10U*005944 or 4WD produced before VIN JT6HF10U*0007456.

- Nakamichi started counter-measuring exchange amplifiers on 3/16/98.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

- Exchange the amplifier (P/N 86280-48030) through Nakamichi's exchange program. Promptly return the suspect amplifier to Nakamichi.





- The amplifier is located behind the rear seats and in front of the spare tire under a metal bracket.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY*

This repair is covered under the Lexus Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
