Oxygen Sensor: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT HEATER RESISTANCE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSORS (BANK 1, 2 SENSOR 1 AND BANK 1 SENSOR 2)

a. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connectors.







b. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT.

Resistance:
20 °C (68 °F) 11 - 16 Ohms
800 °C (1,472 °F) 23 - 32 Ohms


If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.

Torque: 45 Nm (450 kg.cm, 33 ft.lb)

c. Reconnect the oxygen sensor connectors.

2. INSPECT HEATER RESISTANCE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (BANK 2 SENSOR 2)
a. Remove the transmission shift lever knob.
b. Remove the cup holder.
c. Remove the upper rear console panel.
d. Remove the upper console panel.
e. Remove the radio.




f. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT.

Resistance:
20 °C (68 °F) 11 - 16 Ohms
800 °C (1,472 °F) 23 - 32 Ohms


If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.

Torque: 45 Nm (450 kg.cm, 33 ft.lb)

g. Reconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
h. Reinstall the radio.
i. Reinstall the upper console panel.
j. Reinstall the upper rear console panel.
k. Reinstall the cup holder.
l. Reinstall the transmission shift lever knob.
