Component Inspection

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT MASS AIR FLOW METER

a. Output voltage inspection.
1. Apply battery voltage across terminals 3 (+B) and 4 (E2G).
2. Connect the positive (+) tester prove to terminal 5 (VG), and negative (-) tester prove to terminal 4 (E2G).
3. Blow air into the MAP meter, and check if the voltage fluctuates.

b. Resistance inspection.
1. Using an Ohmmeter, measure resistance between the terminals 2 (THA) and 1 (E2).

Resistance:
12.5 - 16.9 Ohm at -20 °C (-4 °F)
2.19 - 2.67 Ohm at 20 °C (68 °F)
0.50 - 0.68 Ohm at 60 °C (140 °F)

2. INSPECT THROTTLE W/MOTOR BODY ASSY

a. Disconnect the throttle control motor connector.
b. Using an Ohmmeter, measure the motor resistance between terminal M+ and M-.

Motor resistance: 0.3 - 100 Ohm at 20 °C (68 °F)

3. INSPECT KNOCK SENSOR

a. Continuity inspection.
1. Using an Ohmmeter, check that these is no continuity between the terminal and body.

Specified condition: No continuity

4. INSPECT ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

a. Resistance inspection.
1. Using an Ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals.

Resistance:
2.32 - 2.59 Ohm at 20 °C (68 °F)
0.310 - 0.326 Ohm at 80 °C (176 °F)

NOTE: When inspecting the water temperature sensor in water, prevent water flow into the terminals. After inspection, wipe the water off from the sensor.

5. INSPECT CIRCUIT OPENING RELAY

a. Continuity inspection.
1. Using an Ohmmeter, check for continuity between each terminal.

2. Using an Ohmmeter, check for continuity between terminals 3 and 5 when the battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2.

Specified condition: Continuity

6. INSPECT EFI RELAY

a. Continuity inspection.
1. Using an Ohmmeter, check for continuity between each terminal.

2. Using an Ohmmeter, check for continuity between terminals 3 and 5 when the battery voltage is applied across terminals 1 and 2.

Specified condition: Continuity
