Introduction Some vehicles may experience a condition where the running board (rocker panel molding) clips become loose. New running board (rocker panel molding) clips have been developed to correct this condition.

Warranty Information

Applicable Warranty*:
This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.

* Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.


Repair Procedure

Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS) 2003 or 2004 model year GX 470 Repair Manual: Exterior/Interior Trim:

Side Step: Replacement.

1. Remove running board (rocker panel molding) clips.





A. Using a screwdriver, remove the 10 clips at the locations shown in the illustration.

NOTE:
Tape screwdriver tip before use.

2. Replace old style running board (rocker panel molding) clips with new style.

3. Reinstallation is reverse of removal.

4. Perform procedure on opposite side of vehicle.
