PRE-CHECK

PRECAUTIONS

- The Night View Projectors emit near-infrared rays, which are invisible to the naked eye. Therefore, when the Night View Projectors are on, avoid looking directly into them. (more than 5 minutes) The light energy emitted is almost equal to looking directly into the high beams.
- When the Night View Projectors are on, the BEAM indicator light on the Night View Switch and the outer circumference of the projectors are illuminated.

DESCRIPTION
- The LEXUS Night View System uses a camera to capture reflected near-infrared light off objects illuminated by the Night View Projectors, headlights and surrounding light. The camera is connected to the Night View ECU which uses a display to project the images on the windshield.
- The operation of the system is permitted only when the ignition, headlight and Night View Switches are ON, and the light control sensor of the Automatic Light Control System has determined that the surroundings of the vehicle are dark.
- The Night View Projectors operate only when the vehicle is being driven over 6 km/h (4 mph) when the system is operating. They turn OFF when the vehicle comes to a stop, under 3 km/h (2 mph).

HINT: The projectors can be checked when the vehicle is stopped using the Inspection Mode Operation.
- Depending on lighting conditions, the weather and cleanliness of the front glass, camera lens and projectors, all objects may not be displayed as bright images. Clean as necessary to improve image quality. Sensitivity can be adjusted to compensate as necessary by turning the Night View Switch knob.
- Since the Night View Display uses a TFT display, it may become dark when the temperature or battery voltage is low. The display should return to normal when the temperature rises to about 15 - 20°C (59 - 68°F) and operating voltage is normal.
- In cold weather, using the heater in "FOOT" mode may cause fogging on the upper part of the front glass. In this case, use the "DEF" mode to clear the glass.

RANGE AND FIELD OF VISION

The range that the Night View Camera takes images is shown.

HINT: The Night View Camera has an adjustment mechanism (for 3 directions; right and left, up and down, and rotation).

If the range that the Night View camera takes images is different from the range shown, adjustment is required.

OPERATING CONDITIONS

HINT:
- Each time the ignition switch is turned ON, the Night View Switch also needs to be turned ON to activate the system.
- Approximately 1 second after the above conditions are met, the image will be displayed.
- The Night View Display has a cover. This cover is closed when the display does not operate. If the open and close operation of the display cover is not normal, turn the ignition switch OFF once and then begin the operation again (In this case, the display cover opens first and then closes).

INSPECTION MODE

The inspection mode is used to check the Night View Projectors when the vehicle is not moving or the surroundings are bright (daytime).

This mode will automatically turn OFF after 5 minutes.
