Hood Latch Release Cable: Service and Repair
OVERHAULHINT: The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
1. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE
a. Remove the 2 bolts and auxiliary catch release lever assembly.
b. Remove the bolt and auxiliary catch hook assembly.
c. Remove the 8 nuts and radiator grille.
2. REMOVE HOOD INSULATOR
a. Using a clip remover, remove the 11 clips and hood insulator.
3. REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT ASSEMBLY LH
4. REMOVE HOOD SUPPORT ASSEMBLY RH
5. REMOVE HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 4 bolts and hood sub-assembly.
6. REMOVE HOOD HINGE ASSEMBLY LH
a. Remove the 2 bolts and hood hinge assembly.
7. REMOVE HOOD HINGE ASSEMBLY RH
a. Remove the 2 bolts and hood hinge assembly.
8. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT SEAL UPPER
a. Using a clip remover, remove the 8 clips and support seal upper.
9. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 clips, and remove the hood lock release lever protector.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
NOTE: Removing the protector damages the clips inside the protector. Therefore the use of a new protector is necessary on the installation.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and hood lock assembly.
c. Disconnect the connector.
10. INSTALL HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY
a. Connect the connector.
b. Install the hood lock with the 3 bolts.
c. Adjust the hood lock position.
d. Install the protector.
11. INSTALL HOOD HINGE ASSEMBLY LH
a. Install the hood hinge assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 13.0 Nm (130 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
12. INSTALL HOOD HINGE ASSEMBLY RH
a. Install the hood hinge assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 13.0 Nm (130 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
13. INSTALL HOOD SUB-ASSEMBLY
a. Install the hood sub-assembly with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 13.0 Nm (130 kgf.cm, 10 ft.lbf)
14. INSTALL RADIATOR GRILLE
a. Install the radiator grille with the 8 nuts.
Torque: 5.5 Nm (56 kgf.cm, 49 In.lbf)
b. Install the auxiliary catch hook assembly with the bolt.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
c. Install the auxiliary catch release lever assembly with the 2 bolts.
Torque: 8.0 Nm (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)
