GENERAL INFORMATION

Models
'04 - '06 GX470

TSB REVISION NOTICE:
- August 24, 2005: 2006 model years have been added to Applicable Vehicles.
- July 05, 2005: Reference Information note and Activation Procedure has been updated.
Previous versions of TSB should be discarded.

On GX 470 vehicles equipped with Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), the pressure transmitter in each tire needs to be activated during PDS (including the spare tire).

A tire pressure sensing transmitter is built into each tire valve, and the measured tire pressure data is transmitted through a tire pressure warning system antenna and then to the tire pressure monitoring system receiver.

APPLICABLE VEHICLES:

- 2004 - 2006
model year GX470 vehicles produced AFTER the Production Start VIN shown below.

REFERENCE INFORMATION:

NOTE:
- After all the tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated, the flashing tire pressure warning light goes off.
- The Diagnostic Trouble Codes listed may be stored in the system until the tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated.
- The codes will automatically clear when the tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated.

ACTIVATION PROCEDURE:

1. Check that the tire selector switch is in the "Main" position.

2. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position and check that the tire pressure warning light blinks.

3. Press the valve core to reduce the tire inflation pressure rapidly by 6 psi (0.4 kgf/cm2, 40 kPa), or more within 30 seconds. If the tire inflation pressure is NOT reduced by 6 psi (0.4 kgf/cm2, 40 kPa) or more within 30 seconds, the tire pressure sensing transmitters will NOT be activated.

This operation is required for the system to be activated and must be performed for each tire (including the spare tire), one at a time.

Check that the tire pressure warning light goes off, after all the tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated.

NOTE:
After all tire pressure sensing transmitters are activated, the low tire pressure warning light will come on whenever the tire pressure in any of the tires falls below 24 - 27 psi (1.65 - 1.9 kgm/cm2, 165 - 185 kPa).

4. Check that the sleep mode Diagnostic Trouble Codes are NOT stored in the system. If the sleep mode Diagnostic Trouble Codes are stored, increase the tire inflation pressure of all the 5 tires to 44 psi (3.0 kgf/cm2, 300 kPa) and repeat steps 1 - 4.
5. If the warning light comes on, increase the tire inflation pressure higher than 32 psi (2.2 kgm/cm2, 220 kPa) and check that the warning light goes off.

6. Adjust the tire pressure of all tires (including spare tire).
