Power Back Door
OVERHAULHINT:
- The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
- When the power back door drive unit, back door w/motor lock and battery is reconnected, the back door is locked and therefore cannot be opened. Therefore, it is necessary to unlock the back door using the door control switch or transmitter switch.
1. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD LH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 claws and remove the trim board.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
2. REMOVE BACK WINDOW PANEL TRIM UPPER
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 2 claws and 7 clips, and remove the trim upper.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
3. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT
a. Remove 2 bolts A indicated in the illustration.
b. Remove the 4 bolts and drive unit.
c. Disconnect the connector.
5. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY UPPER
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 10 clips and remove the trim panel.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
6. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 8 clips and remove the trim panel.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
7. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER RH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 3 clips and remove the trim cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
8. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM COVER LH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the RH side.
9. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM SPACER RH
a. Remove the screw.
b. Using a clip remover, disengage the claw and remove the trim spacer.
10. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM SPACER LH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the RH side.
11. REMOVE BACK DOOR LOCK COVER
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the lock cover.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use. If damaged, exchange it for a new cover.
12. REMOVE BACK DOOR W/ MOTOR LOCK ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 4 bolts.
b. Disconnect the connector and remove the door lock.
13. REMOVE REAR SPOILER
14. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR LH
a. Disconnect the wire harness connector.
b. Using a torx socket wrench (T30), remove the 3 screws.
c. Using clip remover, disengage the clips and remove the touch sensor.
15. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR TOUCH SENSOR RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
16. REMOVE REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY LH
17. REMOVE REAR LAMP ASSEMBLY RH
18. REMOVE BACK DOOR GARNISH OUTSIDE
19. REMOVE LICENSE PLATE LAMP ASSEMBLY
20. REMOVE WIRELESS DOOR LOCK BUZZER
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
b. Disconnect the wire harness connector and remove the buzzer.
21. REMOVE POWER BACK DOOR CLOSER SWITCH
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and remove the switch.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
22. REMOVE DOOR PULL HANDLE
a. Using a screwdriver, disengage the 4 claws and remove the door pull handle.
HINT: Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
23. INSTALL POWER BACK DOOR DRIVE UNIT
a. Apply adhesive to the threads of the 6 bolts.
Adhesive:
Part No. 08833-00070, THREE BOND 1324 or equivalent
b. Install the drive unit to the vehicle body with the 4 bolts in the order as shown in the illustration.
Torque: 31 Nm (316 kgf.cm, 23 ft.lbf)
c. Install the drive unit to the door panel with the 2 bolts in the order as shown in the illustration.
Torque: 31 Nm (316 kgf.cm, 23 ft.lbf)
24. INSTALL BACK DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY
a. Apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating areas of the door lock.
b. Install the door lock with the 4 bolts.
Torque: 12.5 Nm (127 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
c. Connect the door lock connector.
