Title: Title: ABNORMAL FUNCTION OF A/C AND COMBINATION METER

Models: 2004 -2005 RX330

Introduction:

Some 2004 -- 2005 model year RX 330 vehicles may experience an A/C button indicator light blinking (inoperative A/C compressor), and/or various combination meter warning lamps illuminated at times (ABS/VSC). An improved engine compartment Junction Block has been developed to correct this condition.




Applicable Vehicles: 2004 -- 2005 model year RX 330 vehicles produced BEFORE the Production Change Effective VINs shown.

Repair Procedure:




1. Remove the battery.

2. Remove the driver's side Junction Block No. 2 engine Fuse Block cover.

3. Remove the 2 bolts.








4. Disconnect the 4 claws and remove the Junction Block cover (see illustration for detail).




The Junction Block has a part label affixed as shown. Verify that the fourth (4th) digit of the upper 8-digit number on the label is a "2" (previous parts would be a "1").

Is the part number check digit identified as "2"?

- Yes The car is already equipped with countermeasure parts. Perform A/C system diagnostics. Refer to the Technical Information System (TIS), 2005 model year RX 330 Repair Manual: Diagnostics: Air Conditioning System: Pre-Check.

- No Continue to step 5.

5. Disconnect the eight (8) connectors from Junction Block No. 2.

6. Remove the engine compartment Junction Block.

7. Reassemble the Junction Block, using the NEW countermeasure part, in reverse order.

8. Re-initialize power systems.

- For 2004 model year RX 330 vehicles, refer to TSIB No. PG002-03, "Pre-Delivery (PDS) Information for RX 330."

- For 2005 model year RX 330 vehicles, refer to TSIB No. PD010-05, "Power System Initialization During PDS."

9. Verify that the combination meter and air conditioning are functioning properly.
