Safing Sensor: Service and Repair

Air Bag Sensor Assy Center:

AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER

REPLACEMENT

1. PRECAUTION
Refer to Air Bag Systems; Service Precautions.
2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
3. REMOVE FRONT LH SEAT ASSEMBLY
4. REMOVE FRONT RH SEAT ASSEMBLY
5. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER FRONT
6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER
7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH
8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY LOWER
9. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHER STRIP RH
11. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
12. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.2
13. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY
14. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER LH
15. REMOVE FLOOR CARPET COVER CENTER RH
16. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL LOWER CENTER




17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER NO.2
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the console box hole cover No.2.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.

18. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX HOLE COVER
a. Using a screwdriver, remove the console box hole cover.

HINT: Tape up the screwdriver tip before use.




19. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY
a. Remove the 6 bolts.
b. Disconnect the console box slide cable.
c. Remove the clamp and disconnect the connector, and then remove the console box assembly.




20. REMOVE CONSOLE COVER LOWER
a. Remove the 2 screws.
b. Disconnect the connector and remove the console cover lower.

21. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX DUCT NO.1
22. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.2
23. REMOVE AIR DUCT REAR NO.1




24. REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Disconnect the 3 connectors from the airbag sensor assembly center.
b. Remove the 3 bolts and the airbag sensor assembly center.

25. INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY CENTER
a. Check that the ignition switch is off.
b. Check that the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected.

NOTE: Do not start the operation for 90 seconds after removing the terminal.

c. Temporarily install the airbag sensor assembly center with the 3 bolts.

NOTE:
- If the airbag sensor assembly center has been dropped, or there are any cracks, dents or other defects in the case, bracket or connector, replace the airbag sensor assembly center with a new one.
- When installing the airbag sensor assembly center, take care that the SRS wiring does not interfere with other parts and is not pinched between other parts.

d. Tighten the 3 bolts to the specified torque.

Torque: 17.5 N.m (178 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)

e. Connect the connectors of the airbag sensor assembly center.
f. Check that no play is identified.
g. Check that the waterproof sheet is properly set.

28. OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION ECU INITIALIZATION
29. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
