Vehicle Speed Sensor: Testing and Inspection

INSPECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR







a. Measure the resistance of the speed sensor. If the result is not as specified, replace the speed sensor.

HINT: Check the speed sensor signal after the speed sensor replacement.

INSPECT REAR SPEED SENSOR







a. Measure the resistance of the sensor. If the result is not as specified, replace the speed sensor.

HINT: Check the speed sensor signal after the speed sensor replacement.

INSPECT STEERING SENSOR







a. Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 (IG1) and 2 (ESS), 2 (ESS) and 3 (BAT).
b. Connect the oscilloscope to the terminals 9 (SSI-) and 10 (SSI+) of the steering sensor.
c. Turn the steering column shaft slowly and check the signal waveform.

HINT:
The above signal waveform does not repeat ON and OFF regularly and this ON to OFF interval changes depending on the steering column shaft movement.
If the result is not as specified, replace the steering sensor.
