Windshield Washer Motor: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION
1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY





HINT: This check should be performed with the front washer motor and pump installed to the washer jar.

a. Fill the washer jar with washer fluid.
b. Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 of the washer motor and pump, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2.

c. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar.

OK: Washer fluid flows from washer jar.

2. INSPECT HEADLIGHT CLEANER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY





HINT: This check should be performed with the headlight cleaner motor and pump installed to the washer jar.

a. Fill the washer jar with washer fluid.
b. Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 of the headlight cleaner motor and pump, and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
c. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar.

OK: Washer fluid flows from washer jar.

3. INSPECT HEADLIGHT CLEANER CONTROL RELAY
a. Inspect headlight cleaner control relay operation.




1. Measure the resistance between terminals 4 (E) and 6 (PB).

Standard resistance: 10 k ohms or higher

2. Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 3 (IG) of the connector, and the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 4 (E).




3. Connect the negative (-) battery lead to terminal 1 (HOLD) and 2 (H), and measure the resistance between terminals 4 (E) and 6 (PB).
4. Disconnect the negative (-) battery lead from terminal 1 (HOLD) and 2 (H).
5. Disconnect the positive (+) battery lead from terminal 3 (IG), and then reconnect it.







6. Connect the negative (-) battery lead to terminals 1 (HOLD) and 5 (FRWA), and measure the resistance between terminals 4 (E) and 6 (PB).
