Variable Valve Timing Actuator Position Sensor: Service and Repair

VVT Sensor:





REMOVAL

1. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
2. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP W/ INLET

3. REMOVE VVT SENSOR (for Bank 1)




a. Disconnect the VVT sensor (Bank 1) connector.
b. Remove the bolt, and then remove the VVT sensor (Bank 1).

4. REMOVE VVT SENSOR (for Bank 2)




a. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector (Bank 2) from the wire harness bracket.




b. Disconnect the VVT sensor (Bank 2) connector.
c. Remove the bolt, and then remove the VVT sensor (Bank 2).

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL VVT SENSOR (for Bank 1)




a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring on the VVT sensor (Bank 1).
b. Install the VVT sensor (Bank 1) with the bolt.

Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)

c. Connect the VVT sensor (Bank 1) connector.

2. INSTALL VVT SENSOR (for Bank 2)




a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring on the VVT sensor (Bank 2).
b. Install the VVT sensor (Bank 2) with the bolt.

Torque: 8.0 N.m (82 kgf.cm, 71 in.lbf)

c. Connect the VVT sensor (Bank 2) connector.




d. Install the heated oxygen sensor connector (Bank 2) to the wire harness bracket.

3. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP W/ INLET
4. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL
