Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

3. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER.
5. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET.
6. REMOVE INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE.

7. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD.
a. Remove the intake manifold.

8. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR




a. Disconnect the 2 knock sensor connectors.
b. Remove the 2 nuts and 2 knock sensors.

INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR




a. Install the 2 knock sensors with the 2 nuts, as given in the illustration.

Torque: 20 N.m(204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)

b. Connect the 2 knock sensor connectors.

2. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD
a. Install the intake manifold.

3. INSTALL INTAKE AIR CONNECTOR PIPE
4. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET
5. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

6. PERFORM INITIALIZATION
a. Perform initialization.

NOTE: Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

7. ADD ENGINE COOLANT
8. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS
9. CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS
10. INSTALL V-BANK COVER
