Rear Seat Backrest
DISASSEMBLY1. Remove the seat backrest. For additional information, refer to Rear Seat Backrest-Second Row, 40 Percent E-Z Entry.
2. Remove the head restraint.
^ Insert a suitable tool into the hole and release the rods on both sides.
3. Invert the seat backrest trim cover.
CAUTION: Use care when separating the seat backrest trim cover from the hook and loop strip, or the hook and loop strip can be torn from the seat backrest pad.
4. Squeeze the head restraint guide ends together to release them and pull them out through the top.
5. Pull the seat backrest trim cover off.
6. Remove the seat backrest pad from the frame.
7. Remove the seat backrest support from the frame.
1 Remove the screws.
2 Remove the seat backrest support.
8. Remove the tether anchor.
ASSEMBLY
1. Position the seat backrest frame and tether anchor.
1 Position the seat backrest frame so that the backrest is facing up or out.
2 Position the hook and loop strip to face up or out.
3 Lay the tether anchor end opposite the hook and loop strip over the seat backrest frame.
2. Wrap the tether anchor end with the hook and loop strip around the seat backrest frame and insert it through the loop at the other end of the tether anchor.
^ Fold the tether anchor strap.
3. Position the tether anchor to the center of the seat backrest frame and let the other end hang down.
4. Install the seat backrest support.
1 Position the seat backrest support to the seat backrest frame.
2 Install the screws.
5. Position the seat backrest pad onto the seat backrest frame.
6. Position the seat backrest trim cover onto the pad.
^ Do not position the seat backrest trim cover all the way onto the pad as the seat backrest frame bolts will have to be installed to the latch.
7. Install the head restraint guide pins.
8. Install the head restraint.
9. Install the seat backrest. For additional information, refer to Rear Seat Backrest-Second Row, 40 Percent E-Z Entry.
10. Check the restraint system for correct operation.
