Blower Motor: Service and Repair

1982---87 CONTINENTAL & 1984---88 MARK VII
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove glove box and shield, then disconnect vacuum hose from outside-recirculating air door vacuum motor.
3. Remove instrument panel lower right to side cowl attaching bolt then, remove screw attaching support brace to top of air inlet duct.
4. Disconnect blower motor power lead at wire connector.
5. Remove blower motor housing lower support bracket to heater/evaporator attaching nut.
6. Remove side cowl trim panel.
7. Remove ashtray receptacle, then remove two screws securing instrument panel to transmission tunnel inside ashtray opening.
8. Remove screw attaching top of air inlet duct to heater/evaporator case.
9. Remove air inlet duct and blower housing assembly down and away from the evaporator case.
10. Remove assembly from vehicle, then remove four blower motor mounting plate screws and remove blower motor from housing.
11. Reverse procedure to install.
