Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

Component Location:

1. Raise vehicle.
2. Remove front and rear catalytic converter flange nuts from the exhaust manifolds.
3. Remove bolt and nut retainers at transmission case.
4. Remove two retaining nuts and bolts from the catalytic converter connection.
5. Remove the catalytic converter.
6. Clean all mating surfaces.
7. Install the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold studs.
8. Install the bolt and nut retainers to the transmission case.
9. Using a new gasket, connect the catalytic converter to the flexible pipe.
10. Align the exhaust system to specifications (see image).
11. Starting at the front of the exhaust, torque the fasteners to the specifications shown on the image.
12. Lower the vehicle, START the engine, and check for exhaust leaks.
