Neutral Safety Switch: Service and Repair

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Place shift lever in Neutral, then disconnect linkage from manual shift lever.
3. Disconnect switch wiring connector, then remove switch attaching bolts and switch.
4. Install switch and attaching bolts, but do not tighten bolts at this time.
5. Insert a No. 43 (.089 inch) drill bit through hole in switch, then torque attaching bolts to 7-9 inch lbs. and remove drill bit.
6. Reconnect switch connector and battery cable, then ensure that starter engages in Neutral or Park positions only.
