XB182 - Check Data (+)/Data (-) Circuits: Intermittent Opens



- Key "OFF".

- Breakout box installed, Powertrain Control Module (PCM) disconnected.

- Variable Control Relay Module (VCRM) disconnected.

- Connect a jumper wire between Pin 21 and Pin 23 at the VCRM vehicle harness connector (be careful that jumper wire does not contact other pins).

- Connect Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM) between test pin 18 and test pin 19 at the breakout box.

- While monitoring the resistance reading, shake, wiggle, bend the DATA (+) and DATA (-) circuits between the PCM and VCRM connectors.

- Does resistance reading go above 5.0 ohms (indicating an open)?

Yes -- Isolate fault and service as necessary. Remove jumper wire and breakout box. Reconnect all components. Start engine. A/C "ON", wait 15 seconds. A/C "OFF". Engine "OFF". Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)

No -- Unable to isolate fault at this time Remove jumper wire and breakout box. Reconnect all components. For further diagnosis using the EEC-IV Monitor Box or Scan Tool, go to Normal Scan Data Values. For further diagnosis of this, or any other symptom, return to Diagnostic Routines.
