XB85 - Check A/C Circuits For Intermittent Opens



- Key "OFF".

- Visually check the power-to-A/C clutch and A/C clutch ground (Pin 13) circuits from the Variable Control Relay Module (VCRM) to the A/C clutch. Also check the VCRM A/C ground circuit (Pin 15) from the VCRM to its ground point (weld nut on LH side radiator support).

- Start engine.

- A/C "ON".

CAUTION: While performing this test, do not touch any moving/hot engine parts.

- Shake, wiggle, bend the power-to-A/C clutch, A/C clutch ground and VCRM A/C ground circuits. An open will be indicated by the A/C clutch disengaging for other than normal cyclic pressure switch operation.

- Key "OFF", A/C "OFF".

- Is a fault indicated?

Yes -- Isolate fault and service as necessary. Rerun quick test. Quick Test Appendix (Detailed Testing Instructions)

No -- Go to XB86. XB86 - Check Power to A/C Clutch: Intermittent Short to Power
