Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch (For Computer): Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Partially drain cooling system.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected or reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) relearns its strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 16km (10 miles) or more to relearn the strategy.

Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor:

3. Disconnect engine control sensor wiring from Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor.
4. Remove ECT sensor from water bypass tube.
5. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten engine coolant temperature sensor to 16-24 Nm (12-18 lb ft).
6. Refill cooling system.
7. Run engine and check for coolant leaks. Service as necessary.
