Using the New Generation Star (NGS) Tester

Diagnostics for this system require use of the Rotunda New Generation Star (NGS) Tester 007-00500 or equivalent. The module controlling the system being diagnosed communicates with the Data Link Connector located beneath the instrument panel.

Connect the OBD II style communication cable to the New Generation Star Tester. Attach the New Generation Star Tester and communication cable to the Data Link Connector beneath the instrument panel. Select the proper vehicle model and year from the New Generation Star Tester menu. You may then access the testing area of the New Generation Star Tester menu required to diagnose this vehicle system. Refer to the following Symptom Chart for module selection. Begin diagnosis with Multiplex Communication Network/Testing and Inspection.

If any diagnostic trouble code (DTC) starts with the letter "U", perform Multiplex Communication Network Data Link Diagnostics Test.
