Seals and Gaskets: Service and Repair

Special Tools:

Removal
1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the exhaust.
3. Remove the driveshaft.





4. Remove the nut and discard.





5. Using the special tool, remove the output flange.





6. Using the special tools, remove the extension housing seal.

Installation





1. Using the special tool, install the extension housing seal.





2. Using the special tools, install the output flange.





3. Install a new nut.
4. Install the driveshaft.
5. Install the exhaust.
6. Fill the transmission to the correct fluid level and check for correct transmission operation.
- Use MERCON (R) V Automatic Transmission Fluid XT-5-QM or equivalent meeting Ford specification MERCON (R) V.
