REMOVAL

NOTE: If a heater core leak is suspected, the heater core must be leak tested before it is removed from the vehicle.

1. Drain the radiator.
2. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to: Body and Frame, Interior Trim, Dashboard/Instrument Panel, Service and Repair, Removal and Installation, Removal and Installation







3. Remove the junction block splash shield.







4. Remove the bolts and disconnect the cable ends from the starter relay.







5. Remove the junction block bracket.
1 Disengage the wire harness connector.
2 Remove the bolts.
3 Remove the junction block bracket.







6. Perform the Heater Hose Coupling Disconnect Procedure.







7. Remove the A/C plenum demister adapter.
1 Remove the screw.
2 Remove the A/C plenum demister adapter.







8. Disconnect the vacuum line.







9. Remove the plenum chamber top.
1 Remove the 13 screws.
2 Remove the plenum chamber top.
10. Remove the blend door assembly from the case.







11. Remove the heater core.

INSTALLATION
1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
^ Lubricate the coolant hoses with MERPOL(R) meeting Ford specification ESE-M99B144-B or plain water only, if needed.
